TIG Welders
| Instructional Books by Kent
Caveny
Kent Caveny is a mechanical engineer
who is currently working on what he calls "very high pressure
water hoses." His expertise has taken him all over the world
to work with polymer chemist and other specialists to develop
flexible pipe that can withstand pressures up to 15,000 psi
used to transport oil on and off floating oilrigs. He is now
planning on going to Europe to work on airplane restoration.
Along with being a researcher and engineer, Kent is also a
certified car nut. He is currently reassembling and restoring
the sheet metal on a '59 Porsche 356 Cabriolet. He is also
looking forward to restoring the body and building the chassis
for a '27 T Roadster. With some thirty years of sheet metal
and welding experience behind him, he has written three books
to pass on his expertise. Each is a simple but practical educational
tool designed to improve the skills of any home or hobby welder.

Guide to Chassis & Sheet Metal Welding
"A Guide to Chassis & Sheet
Metal Welding" tells you what you need to know and consider
when selecting a gas, MIG, TIG or spot welding set that
meets your needs for repairing equipment and auto body
panels or fabricating sheet metal, body panels, hot rod
and race car chassis or welded sculpture. Once you've bought
your welding set, the booklet leads you through teaching
yourself the basics of welding steel by doing simple, practical
exercises. It even tells you how to test your welds and
what may be going wrong. All you need to do is be patient
and practice, practice, practice. |

Smarter
Than the Metal - Contouring and Finishing Sheet Metal
Welds
Body panel repair and
fabrication are a primary reasons people want to learn
to weld sheet metal. "Smarter Than the Metal - Contouring
and Finishing Sheet Metal Welds" explains how to use
a hammer, dolly, torch and file to stretch, shrink, and
metal finish sheet metal panels and welds. Metal finishing
is making a welded or repaired body panel smooth enough
to paint without using any filler! The black art of "heat
shrinking" is fully explained. There are practical exercises
that you can practice, practice, practice on and then
grade to see what you are doing right or not so right.
Finally, the early exercises lead to practicing metal
finishing on simulated door skin repairs and patch panels. .

Getting and A in Aluminum

Getting an A
in Aluminum
If you've already conquered welding and metal finishing
steel, you're ready to try "Getting an A in Aluminum, Welding Aluminum
Sheet with Gas and TIG". Aluminum is different than steel. It requires
pretty good welding skills and some special techniques. This booklet
follows the same approach as the other two. It provides simple explanations
of the technology involved and then leads you step-by-step through
simple exercises to master gas and TIG welding on annealed aluminum
body panels. Again, you can grade your own work and get an "A" if
you practice, practice, practice. |
